“mother!” may be the most secretive movie of the fall, but “Blade Runner 2049” comes a close second. Even as the promotional campaign has ramped up with a prequel short film, what the “Blade Runner” sequel will contain still remains under a cloak. However, if this rumor pans out, it looks like we’ll be spending a lot of time in the world Denis Villeneuve and co. and crafting.
Again, this is far from confirmed, but word is floating that “Blade Runner 2049” will run a whopping 163 minutes, or 2 hours and 43 minutes. Take it with a healthy dose of skepticism, but it would certainly make the movie one of the longest blockbusters of the year.

Of course, how short or long a movie has little bearing on its quality. Great stories either needs lots of time to unfold or can be told briefly, it all depends. This is far from confirmed and could be totally wrong, and it wouldn’t be the first time that’s happened (please the Great Internet Freakout over “Transformers: The Last Knight” earlier this year, when incorrect reports flew around that movie was 3 hours long).
“Blade Runner 2049” opens on October 6th.
