Gonzo satirist, Sacha Baron Cohen (aka Borat, aka Bruno) thankfully won’t just be pimping out his “Da Ali G Show” characters for the rest of his life. Though “Bruno” is scheduled for May 2009, it appears the crop of projects he has after that will be less provocative street attacks on film and more traditional films.
According to Variety, Baron Cohen’s “Accidentes” has been picked up by Fox Atomic, a project he’s producing and keen on starring in as an ambulance-chasing personal injury lawyer.
According to the trade magazine, the character will be of Latin descent and “transforms from contingency attorney to hero of the working class when he helps an immigrant win a judgment against his wealthy employer after a landscaping mishap.” The script for ‘Accidentes’ is being written by Peter Baynham who shared a writing credit with Cohen for “Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.”
Apart from starring in a Sherlock Holmes film with Will Ferrell, as produced by Judd Apatow (surprisingly as Holmes to Ferrell’s Watson, you’d think it was the other way around), Cohen’s next project will be the Dreamworks produced comedy, “Dinner for Schmucks.”
