‘Sakra’ Trailer: Donnie Yen’s New Wuxia Film Hits Theaters On April 14, On Digital On April 18

Actor and martial artist Dannie Yen has big biggest stateside release this weekend when “John Wick: Chapter 4” hits theaters everywhere. But US audiences may not realize just how prolific Yen is in the Chinese film industry. Want to learn more? How about checking out “Sakra,” Yen’s latest wuxia film, which he also directs?

Based on Louis Cha‘s classic wuxia novel “Demi-Gods And Semi-Devils,” “Sakra” stars Yen as Qiao Feng, the respected leader of a roving band of martial artists. After being wrongfully accused of murder, Feng goes on the run in search of answers about his mysterious origins and the unknown enemies out to destroy him.

“Sakra” also stars Chen YuqiCya LiuWai Ying HungWu YueCheung Siu FaiWong Kwan HingDu YumingLui Leung Wai, and Tsui Siu Ming.

Sheng LingzhiZhu WeiHe BenChen LiShen Lejing, and Xu Yifan adapt Cha’s novel for the big screen.  

The Chinese film market already had its theatrical release of “Sakra” at the start of the Chinese New Year. Now it’s time for the US to take a peek. Will “Sakra” be a new wuxia classic?
