'Sam & Kate' Trailer: Dustin Hoffman & Sissy Spacek Star In Comedy Co-Starring Their Children On November 11

Dustin Hoffman and Sissy Spacek are two of the most beloved actors of their generation. Now, in their next film together, they’ll have to fend with a new generation: their real-life kids.

Sam & Kate” stars Hoffman and Spacek, but their children, Jake Hoffman and Schuyler Fisk, also co-star in lead roles in an uplifting tale of making love and family work. In the film, Jake Hoffman plays Sam, who returns to his small hometown to help take care of his ailing father, Dustin’s Ben. But while he’s home, Sam also falls for Fisk’s Kate, whose mother, Spacek’s Tina, has also caught Ben’s eye. As the two couples become romantically entangled, they’re forced to confront their pasts while they attempt to make their new lives work.

Alongside the Hoffmans, Spacek, Fisk, “Sam & Kate” also stars Tyler LabineElizabeth Faith LudlowDylan McNamara, and Elizabeth Becka.  Pat DortchSteven Allen, and Larry Larson round out the main cast.

“Sam & Kate” is Darren Le Gallo‘s feature directorial debut. He also writes and co-produces the film, while his wife, actress Amy Adam, is on board as co-executive producer.  

Hoffman and Spacek have shared the big screen with their kids before. Jake Hoffman has credited roles in his father’s films “Rain Man,” “Hook,” and “I Heart Huckabees.” He’s also appeared in “Click,” “The Wolf Of Wall Street,” and “The Irishman.” Meanwhile, Fisk co-starred with Spacek in “Castle Rock,” “The Long Walk Home,” “Trading Mom,” and “Hard Promises.”

Actors and actresses working with their children is more common than viewers think. Recent examples include Andie MacDowell and Margaret Qualley in Netflix‘s “Maid,” Eugene and Dan Levy in “Schitt’s Creek,” and the film collaborations of Will and Jaden Smith, as well as Judd ApatowLeslie Mann, and their daughters Maude and Iris.
