Got a Tip?

Samuel L. Jackson May Not Return As Nick Fury In ‘Iron Man 2’ Or Any Future Marvel Films

Man, Marvel seems to be playing hardball with actors trying to squeeze an extra nickel from the super successful movie franchises and the black man can’t seem to get a break. First it was Terrence Howard replaced on “Iron Man,” and now it looks like Samuel L. Jackson might not return as Nick Fury for any of the upcoming Marvel film properties scheduled for the next two-three years.

Monetary disputes were rumored to be the reason why Howard was replaced and Jackson is explicit that financial issues are exactly the problem, telling the L.A. Times Hero Complex blog that negotiations with the nascent movie studio have broken down because ‘there seems to be an economic crisis in the Marvel Comics world.”

Jackson suggests, like Howard, he too might be replaced and it now appears “somebody else will be Nick Fury or maybe Nick Fury won’t be in it.”

Cut out of the scripts to save the problem of pissing off fans? Man, Marvel started out on such a right foot, but seem to be fucking up the program with every new step they take.

Jackson appeared as Nick Fury in the credits to “Iron Man” in a scene that set up “The Avengers” film, but even director Jon Favreau seems to be aware of the contract issues.

“I saw Jon Favreau at the Scream Awards,” Jackson said. “And we had a conversation. He said, ‘I hope things are working out for you because we’re writing stuff for you.’ Then all of a sudden last week I talked to my agents and manager and things aren’t really working that well.”

Maybe Favreau and writer Justin Theroux are going to have to do a quick re-write soon? This news won’t go down well with the fans.
