Got a Tip?

Samuel L. Jackson Says Marvel Movies Are More “Accessible” Than DC Comics Movies

Captain America: The Winter SoldierOh, so we’re still playing this game? There are few debates more tedious to get caught up in than Marvel vs. DC. And yet, there is a certain segment of fandom who will forever compare the two blockbuster franchises as if one is demonstrably better than the other, when at the end of the day, they are both serving the same mainstream audience, just differently (not to mention that DC is just getting started). Regardless, Samuel L. Jackson AKA Nick Fury thinks his team is winning.

“I think Marvel has figured out a way to make those movies accessible to the public… DC hasn’t,” he told MTV. “The Marvel universe is huge. There’s thousands of characters that they can access and do stuff with… it’s been that way since we started reading comic books. Most of us that understand the comic book world know that you can cross-breed and do all kinds of stuff. They actually did a great job bringing a guy like [Robert] Redford in, which turned up the legitimacy factor in a very interesting way, and made [Captain America: The Winter Soldier] a serious movie along with the popcorn and bubblegum stuff we do.”

And moreover, Jackson thinks people just aren’t that jazzed about the "Man Of Steel" followup. “I don’t know what it is. I don’t know why you can’t get Batman and Superman together and have people as juiced up to be a part of that.” Oh, snap.
