‘Saturday Night’ Trailer: Jason Reitman’s Historical ‘SNL’ Comedy Premieres Hits In October

As “Saturday Night Live” approaches its 50th season, it reminds pop culture at large of the incredible impact the show has had on the entertainment industry. A film bringing the show’s origin story to the big screen seems to be a fitting tribute to its outstanding legacy, and fans of the show have high expectations. Jason Reitman, the film’s director, has a fair share of dramedies under his belt with “Juno,” “Tully,” and, most recently “Ghostbusters: Afterlife,” which he co-wrote with Gil Kenan. If the duo’s past is any indication, audiences are in for a treat as they make their return with the much-awaited biographic dramedy “Saturday Night.

Alongside directorial expertise, the film has a star-studded cast, bringing SNL’s story to the screen. With fresh blood like Gabriel LaBelle, Cooper Hoffman, Rachel Sennott, Ella Hunt, Emily Fairn, Kim Matula, Dylan O’Brien, Lamorne Morris, Cory Michael Smith, and Matt Wood, starring alongside seasoned stalwarts J.K. Simmons and William Dafoe, we seem to be in for some fantastic on-screen performances that do justice to the comedic legends they are portraying.  

As if Reitman’s vision and the star-studded cast were not enough, five-time Grammy award winner Jon Batiste is writing the film’s score.

The film will be released on October 11, 49 years after the first episode of ‘SNL’ premiered on NBC. A new trailer has been released, offering audiences nostalgia, drama, and the classic ‘SNL’-style comedy they have come to love so much. Find the latest trailer below.
