Got a Tip?

Second ‘Pride and Glory’ Trailer Piques Our Interest

“Pride and Glory” has been on our radar for a while now, but we let it sit for a while due to its place in film schedule purgatory. Directed by Gavin O’Connor (nothing notable to speak of), the film was shot more than two years ago and its first trailer was out front of “American Gangster” last November, and looked like a rather stock and predictable cop drama.

The new version is significantly darker and makes the film look like more than just your average gritty and intense cop thriller, but a film that’s been sitting around for a year is generally a film that isn’t so hot. Colin Farrell plays the part of a dark dirty cop very well (Ed Norton plays his brother-in-law). He makes Cuba Gooding Jr. look like a gerber baby.

The film was produced by Toby Emmerich, among others, and New Line before they were absorbed by Warner Brothers, so obviously Emmerich’s little bro, Noah, got a part in the film because of blood alone which is ironic considering all the themes of family ties in the film. Seriously though, this sack of mediocrity wont have a chance in real films unless his brother is involved. Anyhow, the film is finally scheduled for a release on October 24th and gets its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival at the beginning of September. The Playlist will try and catch it while he’s there, but there’s obviously more important stuff on the radar that merits eyes and ears.
