'Senior Year' Trailer: Rebel Wilson Returns To High School In On Netflix This May

For some people, high school is one of the most significant times of their lives, for better or for worse. Others, like this writer, see it as another step along the path: an initiatory rite laced with fond memories that fade further with each passing year. A healthier assessment of that time, perhaps, than the people who, for whatever reason, never truly leave that time behind.

But what if high school really didn’t end? Nightmarish as that sounds, that’s the crux of Rebel Wilson‘s new comedy for Netflix, “Senior Year.” Wilson stars as a cheerleader who, after a freak accident causes her to fall into a coma, wakes up twenty years later, having to finish up her senior year. Honestly, this premise sounds terrifying, but maybe it would be a dream come true for some people.

Here’s the film’s official synopsis:

After a cheerleader falls off a pyramid and into a 20-year coma, she wakes up as a 37-year-old woman, ready to return to high school, regain her status and claim the prom queen crown that eluded her.

Alongside Wilson, “Senior Year” stars Alicia Silverstone, Justin Hartley, Angourie Rice, and Sam Richardson. Zoë Chao, Mary Holland, and Chris Parnell round out the main cast.

British television director Alex Hardcastle, known for his work on American TV shows like “Parks And Recreation” and “The Mindy Project,” directs “Senior Year.”  Andrew Knauer & Arthur Pielli, and Brandon Scott Jones provide the screenplay.

How will Rebel Wilson get everything she ever wanted out of her belated last year of high school? For those who care, “Senior Year” hits Netflix on May 13. Watch the trailer below.
