Last week, an interview with Seth Rogen came out that had the actor-filmmaker talking about some of his run-ins with folks that he worked with over the years. And the story that seems to have garnered the most interest involved a rumor that Emma Watson “stormed off the set” of Rogen’s film, “This is the End.” In a new social media message, Rogen wants to clarify those statements and make sure everyone gets it right.
As we covered recently, Rogen told the story of what happened on “This is the End.” He talked about how Emma Watson wasn’t comfortable with a scene and left the set during filming. Ultimately, Rogen thinks the scene worked best how it happened and holds no hard feelings. But in a new tweet, Rogen goes further to explain that she didn’t “storm off the set” and instead, she did the responsible thing and removed herself from a situation she was not comfortable with.
“I want to correct a story that has emerged from a recent interview I gave,” tweeted Rogen. “It misrepresents what actually happened. Emma Watson did not ‘storm off the set’ and it’s shitty that the perception is that she did. The scene was not what was originally scripted, it was getting improvised, changed drastically, and was not what she agreed to. The narrative that she was in some way uncool or unprofessional is complete bullshit.”

He continued, “I for sure should have communicated better and because I didn’t, she was put in an uncomfortable situation. She and I spoke on the night; it was overall a shitty situation and it must have been hard for her to say something and I’m very happy and impressed that she did. We agreed on her not being in the scene together. I was thrilled for the opportunity to work with her and would be thrilled to get that opportunity again. I am very sorry and disappointed it happened, and I wish I had done more to prevent it.”
Obviously, saying one of the biggest stars in the world “stormed off the set” of a popular stoner comedy film makes for a good story and a good headline, so you can understand why people ran with it and why Rogen wanted to clarify. If nothing else, the clarification shows that Rogen does look after his cast when things get outside of the comfort zone and that Watson was probably right for removing herself from the situation after being confronted with it.
Ultimately, it seems as if everyone is happy with the outcome and the film didn’t necessarily suffer because of it.
