‘Shadow & Bone’ Trailer: ‘Arrival’ Writer Unleashes A Fantastical New YA Fantasy Adventure Series On Netflix

With the proliferation of so many channels, streaming networks, and more to come, content is in super high demand. So, this means if you’ve written or directed a hit movie, your options are almost unlimited if you have a good idea. Take “Shadow and Bone” showrunner, executive producer and writer, Eric Heisserer. He wrote Denis Villeneuve‘s “Arrival,” and now he’s got the keys to his entire sci-fi fantasy show on Netflix based on a best-selling fantasy YA fantasy adventure series (and we know Netflix’s algorithm loves YA). Filmmaker Lee Toland Krieger directs the series (“The Vicious Kind,” “Celeste and Jesse Forever“) and executive produced by “Stranger Things” producers Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, Dan Cohen, and Josh Barry for 21 Laps Entertainment and Pouya Shahbazian (Loom Studios).

What’s it about? Well, they are based on Leigh Bardugo‘s worldwide bestselling Grishaverse novels, about dark forces that conspire against an orphan mapmaker when she unleashes an extraordinary power that could change the fate of her war-torn world.
