When it comes to the police, they always want to catch their man, no matter how long they’ve eluded them. Well ‘In The Shadow Of The Moon’ sees a copper chase a serial killer who resurfaces every nine years. Boyd Holbrook, who has “Logan” and the rebooted “The Predator” films under his acting belt, will play a Philadelphia copper who is determined to become a detective. But to do so, he must track down a killer, whose crimes defy explanation.

The director is Jim Mickle, who has previously worked on projects such as thrillers ‘Stake Land” and “We Are What We Are,” will now take on a project that has blends different genres together. Speaking to Collider, Mickle spoke of this challenge and comparing it to his film “Cold In July.” He said, “I didn’t know if [‘Cold In July’] was a heist, a family drama, comedy, it just kept redefining what it was every 20 pages or so. It was never broadcasted to you; you had to decide as you read. It felt like growing up and falling in love with movies for the first time. I had that feeling again for this film and wanted to maintain it.”

He also spoke of Michael C. Hall, who Mickle worked with on “Cold In July,” and will be apart of this new film. Mickle said, “What I love about Michael is he’s such a chameleon, and there is so much of him that is still unpacked, like his humorous side. He can also sort of just put on some clothes and cut his hair different, and completely transform who he is. I wanted to have a character that really felt like Philadelphia, including the accent.”
Not only is there Holbrook and Hall, but there are also roles for “Spider-Man: Homecoming” actor Bokeem Woodbine, Cleopatra Chapman (“Step Up 4: Miami Heat), Rudi Dharmalingam (“The Split”) and Sarah Dugdale (“Supernatural).

In 1988, Philadelphia police officer Thomas Lockhart (Boyd Holbrook), hungry to become a detective, begins tracking a serial killer who mysteriously resurfaces every nine years. But when the killer’s crimes begin to defy all scientific explanation, Lock’s obsession with finding the truth threatens to destroy his career, his family, and possibly his sanity. Directed by Jim Mickle and also starring Michael C. Hall and Cleopatra Coleman, IN THE SHADOW OF THE MOON is a genre-bending psychological thriller that examines the power of time, and how its passing can either bring us together or tear us apart.
