'Solo: A Star Wars Story' Official Synopsis Revealed

We’re just over four months away from the release of “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” and there’s still not a peep from Disney. But the studio sent out their 2018 preview today and lo and behold that  May release date is still sticking. Granted, they could change their mind at any time, but they also could’ve avoided release date change drama by just slyly mentioning it in a press release. It wouldn’t be the first time a studio has done that. But for now, we’re going to have to pretend that in we’re going to a galaxy far, far away this spring.

To that end, the official synopsis for ‘Solo’ has landed, and it’s perfectly vague, with plenty of room left for speculation. Read on!

Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course for one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.

Well, that wasn’t very revealing, though it does leave plenty of space for the long-running rumors that the movie will bring to life the stories we had left to our imagination thus far, including how Han Solo met Chewbacca (yep, it’s in there), and got the Millennium Falcon (from Lando in a card game, which also slots in nicely).

Starring Alden Ehrenreich as Han along with Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, “Solo: A Star Wars Story” apparently opens on May 25th. But if there’s one studio in Hollywood with the muscle and resources to do a last minute, highly organized, global movie campaign, it’s Disney.
