‘Space Cadet’ Trailer:  A Florida Party Girl Becomes An Astronaut Against All Odds In Prime Video’s Upcoming Comedy On July 4

What’s next for Emma Roberts in 2024 after the “Madame Web” debacle?  In fairness to the actress, she only had a supporting role in Sony‘s Spidey-verse spinoff, but that doesn’t mean Roberts isn’t looking to rebound somehow.  Well, how about a winning comedy to set things right again?

Space Cadet” sounds like a comedy right in Robert’s comfort zone: a comedy about Rex, a Florida party girl who inexplicably gets accepted into NASA’s astronaut training program and somehow becomes the top of her class. Rex clearly has what it takes to head to outer space, but will her superiors feel the same way once they realize she’s not an ideal candidate on paper?

Here’s an official synopsis for “Space Cadet,” courtesy of Prime Video:

Tiffany “Rex” Simpson has always dreamed of going to space, but life isn’t going quite as planned. Determined to turn things around, she aims high and with the embellishing touch of her supportive best friend Nadine, her “doctored” application lands her in NASA’s ultra-competitive astronaut training program. In over her head, Rex relies on her quick wits, moxie and determination to get to the top of her class. NASA program directors Pam and Logan certainly take notice, but can this Florida girl get through training and into the cosmos before she blows her cover?

Along with Roberts, “Space Cadet” also stars Tom Hopper, Poppy Liu, and Gabrielle UnionKuhoo Verma, Desi Lydic, Sebastián Yatra, Yasha Jackson, Andrew Call, Troy Iwata, and Josephine Huang also star.  Dave Foley, Sam Robards, and Joshua Harto round out the main cast.

The Lifeguard” director Liz W. Garcia writes and helms”Space Cadet,” her first film since 2017’s “One Hundred Percent More Humid.” Other writing credits for Garcia include Netflix‘s 2022 romantic drama “Purple Hearts.”

“Space Cadet” premieres on Prime Video on July 4; that’s one way to celebrate America’s birthday. Check out the trailer for the film below.
