Got a Tip?

‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Sequel To Begin “A Few Minutes” After ‘Avengers 4’ Ends

The early buzz surrounding “Spider-Man: Homecoming” is incredibly positive. While our review is a bit more tempered than a lot of the fanboy reviews spewing out now, everyone can agree that ‘Homecoming’ is a lot of fun and firmly sets the character up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If you were hoping that Sony might ditch the MCU tie-ins for the already announced sequel, however, then you’re out of luck.

“What I think we should focus on is this Spider-Man who started in ‘Civil War‘ and then has this movie, and then will be in the ‘Avengers‘ movie. And we are starting now the next one which will start a few minutes after ‘Avengers 4‘ wraps as a story,” Producer Amy Pascal revealed in an interview with Fandom.

For those that don’t know, the events of ‘Homecoming’ pick up right after “Captain America: Civil War,” with Peter coming back to Queens after joining the superhero battle overseas. Now, according to Pascal, we’ll see a similar situation for Peter when we meet up with him again in the ‘Homecoming’ sequel.

The untitled sequel (“Spider-Man: Prom,” maybe?) will actually be the first film to follow the conclusion of ‘Avengers 4,’ which is expected to wrap-up the over-20 movie arc that’s been going on for a decade. According to Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, Spider-Man is going to be used as the character that will usher in what the next phase of the MCU looks like, and the sequel will do just that. We’re still over two years away from the ‘Homecoming’ sequel’s release date, so at this point, it would be ridiculous to even speculate what that means.

“Spider-Man: Homecoming” will be released July 7th, and the untitled sequel already has a release date set for July 5, 2019.
