Spike Lee is at Sundance promoting his live-music document of the Broadway musical, “Passing Strange,” and MTV caught up with him to try and squeeze some info out of him about “Inside Man 2.”
A lot of details weren’t revealed, but Lee did say the principal cast of Denzel Washington, Jodi Foster, Clive Owen and Chiwetel Ejiofor were all returning
Early speculation on the film said that the sequel to the surprisingly successful bank heist flick (Lee’s most successful ever) would center on Clive Owen and his gang of sharp thieves, but apparently that plan has changed, though Lee won’t reveal much. “Naw, naw, not anymore,” Lee said of that potential storyline. “Can’t tell you, or I’ll have to do one of these,” he said, jokingly making a stabbing, I’ll-kill-you motion.
“Hotel Rwanda” writer/director Terry George is taking over for original scribe Russell Gewirtz, but don’t expect the movie anytime soon, the screenplay still has a ways to go.
“I got an email from Terry George yesterday.” He just finished.” Lee said enthusiastically before admitting. “He’s at the end of the first act.”
