Marion Cotillard, Brad Pitt and Robert Zemeckis — based on their talent alone, “Allied” landed on our 100 Most Anticipated Films Of 2016 list. The verdict now that the spy movie is about to hit theaters? An ok but not great 62% Rotten Tomatoes rating, and our review on the film was pretty mixed, too.
Essentially, “Allied” is about trust, following two spies who fall in love on the job and later get married. However, it turns out one of them might be a traitor, and it’s certainly an intriguing idea for good ol’ -fashioned-style studio pic. Here’s the official synopsis:
“ALLIED” is the story of intelligence officer Max Vatan (Pitt), who in 1942 North Africa encounters French Resistance fighter Marianne Beausejour (Cotillard) on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Reunited in London, their relationship is threatened by the extreme pressures of the war.
The movie also co-stars Lizzy Caplan and Matthew Goode and was penned by Steven Knight, the writer/director of “Locke.” “Allied” is in theaters today. Check out the new photos, clips and featurettes below.
