Got a Tip?

Steven Spielberg Won’t Be Making That Osama Bin Laden Movie ‘No Easy Day’

nullSo, remember that report yesterday that sprung up saying that Steven Spielberg was considering directing "No Easy Day," a SEAL's chronicling of the killing of Osama Bin Laden? Yeah, you can ahead and scratch that.

Whether or not those meetings took place or if it was just all hot air from the get go, Spielberg spokesman Marvin Levy has released a fairly definitive statement on the whole matter: "Neither Steven Spielberg, DreamWorks Studios or DreamWorks Television will be optioning Mark Owen’s book 'No Easy Day.'" So there you go. Owen, a pseudonym for real Navy SEAL Matt Bissonette, penned the book that is an account of the attack on the Bin Laden compound written from the perspective of one of the SEALs that was on the mission. Of course, details and personnel on the mission have been kept classified in the interest of national security, so the book is controversial already, but we suspect it won't be the last we hear of a movie adaptation.

Kathryn Bigelow's "Zero Dark Thirty" and "Blue Crush" director John Stockwell's "Code Name Geronimo" starring Cam Gigandet, Xzibit and Eddie Kaye Thomas (lol) will be your Bin Laden films for now. [The Wrap]
