Summer 2023 TV Preview: 40 Must-See Shows To Watch

“The Lazarus Project” 
George is recruited to a top-secret organization dedicated to preventing mass extinction events, which can make time go backward. However, he finds himself having to choose to stay loyal or go rogue when faced with the power to rewrite the past and what is worth sacrificing to do so. The series stars Paapa Essiedu, Anjli Mohindra, Rudi Dharmalingam, Caroline Quentin, and Tom Burke.
Release Date: June 4 on TNT.

“The Crowded Room” 
Something a little different from Tom Holland, “The Crowded Room” is a psychological thriller set in 1979 Manhattan. The series tells the story of Danny Sullivan, a young man who is arrested for a heinous crime, and Marlin Reid, the investigator tasked with solving the mystery behind it. Will Chase, Thomas Sadoski, and Sam Vartholomeos also star.
Release Date: June 9 on Apple TV+.

“Outlander” Season 7
Starz’s fan-favorite time-traveling drama series “Outlander” confirms the upcoming seventh season will be split into two parts of eight episodes each, with the back half airing in 2024. The series stars Caitríona Balfe, Sam Heughan, plus Sophie Skelton, Richard Rankin, John Bell, Caitlin O’Ryan, and Paul Gorman.
Release Date: June 16 on Starz.

“Secret Invasion”
Adding to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this new Marvel Studios series follows Nick Fury as he learns of a covert invasion of Earth by the alien shapeshifters known as the Skrulls. He then teams up with some of his allies to come together and save humanity. Samuel L. Jackson is back in his role as Fury. Alongside Jackson, audiences will find Olivia Colman, Ben Mendelsohn, Don Cheadle, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Cobie Smulders, Martin Freeman, and Emilia Clark.
Release Date: June 21 on Disney+.

The Witcher” Season 3, Parts 1 & 2
Henry Cavill might be leaving Netflix’s “The Witcher” fantasy/series (though it seems he left to make room for Superman, and we know how that turned out), but he’s got one more season left in him. Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan, Joey Batey, Myanna Buring, and many more return as monarchs, mages, and beasts of the continent compete to capture Ciri, leaving Geralt to take her into hiding.
Release Date: June 29 on Netflix. Part two arrives on July 17.

Warrior” Season 3
In the wake of the race riots that upended Chinatown in season two, Mai Ling uses her government connections to consolidate power, while Ah Sahm and the Hop Wei must find new ways to survive. Based on the writings of martial arts legend Bruce Lee, the series stars Andrew Koji, Olivia Cheng, Jason Tobin, Dianne Doan, Kieran Bew, and Joe Taslim, among many others.
Release Date: June 29 on HBO Max.

“The Bear” Season 2
Carmy Berzatto returned to Chicago to run the family sandwich shop in season one. Season two will presumably pick up where the last left off with – spoiler alert – The Beef closing and The Bear coming. Jeremy Alan White, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Ayo Edebiri, and Lionel Boyce are returning this season. Alongside our beloved kitchen staff, though, you’ll see Bob Odenkirk appear in at least one episode.
Release Date: An exact date has yet to be revealed, but it’s expected to return in June on Hulu.

“Black Mirror”
After a four-year absence, the sixth season of Charlie Brooker’sBlack Mirror” returns this summer on Netflix with a star-studded cast. That cast includes Aaron Paul, Annie Murphy, Ben Barnes, Danny Ramirez, Himesh Patel, Josh Hartnett, Kate Mara, Michael Cera, Myha’la Herrold, Paapa Essiedu, Rob Delaney, Rory Culkin, Salma Hayek Pinault, and Zazie Beetz.
Release Date: Netflix says the hit dystopian series returns sometime in June.

“I’m A Virgo” 
Having premiered at SXSW to positive reviews, “I’m A Virgo” is a dark, coming-of-age comedy. The series follows Cootie, a 13-foot-tall Black man in California, as he escapes the isolation that he grew up in and explores the real world. Starring Jharrel Jerome, Walton Goggins, Brett Gray, Kara Young, Allius Barnes, Olivia Washington, Carmen Ejogo, and Mike Epps.
Release Date: An exact date is unknown, but the series is expected on Prime Video in June. 

The Full Monty
Taking place 25 years after the original British smash hit, the eight-episode FX series will follow
the same band of brothers as they navigate the post-industrial city of Sheffield and society’s
crumbling healthcare, education, and employment sectors. Academy Award-winning screenwriter Simon Beaufoy returns, joined by co-writer Alice Nutter (“Accused”). Among the lead cast reprising their fan-favorite roles are Robert Carlyle as “Gaz,” Mark Addy as “Dave,” Lesley Sharp as “Jean,” Hugo Speer as “Guy,” Paul Barber as “Horse,” Steve Huison as “Lomper,” Wim Snape as “Nathan” and Tom Wilkinson as “Gerald.”
Release Date: TBD June on FX.
