The 2016 SXSW Film Festival has plenty of celebrities coming to promote their films, but in the documentary "Learning To See," the stars getting their closeups are insects. And today we have an exclusive clip from the movie, which lets you get up and close and personal with some pretty remarkable creatures.

Directed by Jake Oelman, the doc tells the story of Robert Oelman, who one day decided to switch careers, move to South America and document undiscovered insects with his cameras. In the clip below, Oelman explains why capturing the insects on camera is so important to him. Here’s the official synopsis:
This film tells the story of photographer Robert Oelman who leaves his psychology career in the early 1990s to pursue photography. He moves from the United States to Colombia and purchases a small farm in the hills. On his journeys through the rain forests of the Amazon Basin he begins to take striking photographic images of undiscovered insects. After more than twenty years of traveling, searching and photographing, his quest culminates with a New York City gallery show. He also learns that these tiny life forms must continue to survive. They are at the bottom of the mammalian food chain and are critically important to all animal species including mankind.
"Learning To See" will have its first screening at SXSW on Sunday, March 13th at 3:45 PM at Alamo Lamar C. Watch below.
