Got a Tip?

‘Teen Titans’ Live-Action Movie Coming To DC Studios From ‘Supergirl’ Writer

James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Studios have seemingly not strayed from their God and Monsters Part One plan, but as Gunn suggested when it was first announced, it was not complete, and more would eventually be revealed. That more is starting to reveal itself some four months later as THR reveals a live-action “Teen Titans” movie is in the works.

What’s more, it’s being written by actress/playwright Ana Nogueira, who is already writing DC Studios’ “Supergirl: World Of Tomorrow” film and wrote a previous “Supergirldraft when it was intended for the character played by Sasha Calle in the “Flash” film from the now bygone vestige of DCEU.

Initially conceived in the 1960s, the Teen Titans were a type of sidekick-only movie led by Batman’s Robin and featuring many” boy “and “girl” versions of famous DC heroes like Flash Kid, Aquaboy, Wondergirl, and Green Arrow’s sidekick Speedy.

Over the years, The Teen Titans evolved, including a famous and more mature version of the characters revitalized in the 1980s as The New Teen Titans by legendary DC writers and artists Marv Wolfman and George Perez (which introduced now fan-favorite characters core to the DC Universe like Cyborg,  Beast Boy/Changeling, Starfire, and Raven).

Teen Titans arguably evolved twice more in the two animated series, the funnier, zanier version, “Teen Titans Go!” perhaps being the most famous and entertaining featured in the live-action film Teen Titans Go To The Movies (there was also The CW’sTitans” series that ran from 2018-2023, but the less said about it, the better)

Which piece of content the Titans will take its cues from is unknown, but since there never was a faithful live-action version of the Wolfman/Perez run, it would not surprise if they went with that iteration. That version also first famously introduced Nightwing, the character Robin evolved into to forge his own identity outside of just Batman’s sidekick, a legacy he wanted to dismiss finally.

It remains a mystery when “Teen Titans” will arrive and where it will fit into DC Studios. While five movies and five series were initially announced as part of Gods and Monsters, only Gunn’s “Superman” (formerly “Superman: Legacy”) has a release date of July 11, 2025. There is hope that “Supergirl” could arrive in 2026, as it has already cast its lead in “House Of The Dragon” star Milly Allcock, but currently, the film has no director attached.
