The film hasn’t even made it to theaters yet, and there is plenty of controversy for the new movie, “The Apprentice.” The film has garnered a controversial reputation because it focuses on Donald Trump’s early career, well before becoming a political lightning rod. But with a release secured, the film is finally making its way to theaters.

As seen in the trailer, “The Apprentice” tells the story of a younger Trump as he begins to make a name for himself in 1970s New York City. The film focuses on the relationship between a young Trump and his mentor, Roy Cohn. Cohn was a cutthroat attorney who really did have a heavy hand in making Trump who he is today.
The film stars Sebastian Stan, Jeremy Strong, Maria Bakalova, and Martin Donovan. “The Apprentice” is directed by Ali Abbasi, based on a script by Gabriel Sherman. The filmmaker is probably best known for his 2018 breakout, “Border.” He also directed films such as “Holy Spider” and “Shelley,” as well as episodes of the HBO series, “The Last of Us.”
