Marvel has released a whole host of character posters for their all-star superhero throw down "The Avengers," with a bunch of characters in their new suits looking severe against a black background (courtesy of Collider). You can collect them all: Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), and baddie Loki (Tom Hiddleston). Whew.
The images are nothing all that new or spectacular, just the characters in their sleek new suits. Everyone looks reasonably cool and ready for avenging, although the green tint they gave to Mark Ruffalo is kind of disconcerting. I keep forgetting that the Hulk always starts from the left side of Bruce Banner's face (while Bruce is attempting to read a sign that's really far away). Also – is RDJ's face photoshopped onto the top of the Iron Man suit? Awkward. We're fairly certain this is a British series of posters, because it says "In Cinemas Soon," which is the kind of shit they say in jolly old Londontown. We'll go ahead and draft a post now of domestic posters that are slightly slightly slightly different. Excelsior!
In related news, a new poster for Steven Soderbergh's jaunty spy thriller "Haywire" has been released, a few weeks ahead of its January 20th debut. This carries over the jagged, orange-and-grey scheme from the original poster (designed, with some panache, by the genius Neil Kellerhouse). This version of the poster, however, features lead Gina Carano, with little cubes full of movie stars like Michael Fassbender, Ewan McGregor, Bill Paxton, Channing Tatum, Antonio Banderas, and Michael Douglas. If you aren't excited about this movie yet, now's your chance. It starts 2012 off with a very, very big bang. There's also a TV spot, via Coming Soon.
