Earlier this year, “John Wick: Chapter 4” became the action franchise’s highest-grossing title, taking in $432.2 million globally off an $100 million budget. Not bad for a series once slated for a direct-to-video release. And there’s more from the world of John Wick to come: before Ana de Armas stars in the spinoff “Ballerina” next year, here comes “The Continental,” a prequel series that hits Peacock in September.

The latest international trailer for “The Continental: From The World Of John Wick” features all kinds of unseen footage from the upcoming show. Mel Gibson stars as Cormac, the proprietor for the Continental Hotel, a safe haven hotel for assassins, in the 1970s. As Cormac navigates alternative versions of real-life events like the Winter Of Discontent and the American mafia’s rise to economic power, he must also face off against Colin Woodell‘s Winston Scott (played by Ian McShane in the “John Wick” films), who wants to take over The Continental for himself.
“The Continental” also stars Hubert Point-Du Jour, Jessica Allain, Mishel Prada, Nhung Kate, Ben Robson, and Peter Greene. Ayomide Adegun also stars as a younger version of Charon, played by the late Lance Reddick in the film series. Other cast include Jeremy Bobb, Katie McGrath, Sallay Garnett, Ray McKinnon, and Adam Shapiro.
Albert Hughes and Charlotte Brändström share directing duties on the three episodes of “The Continental.” Greg Coolidge, Kirk Ward, and Shawn Simmons developed the series, and all three serves as writers on the show with Ken Kristensen. Lionsgate Television produces the series.
