This year has maybe been the best year of Ryan Gosling’s storied Hollywood career. His scene-stealing role as Ken in “Barbie” is the biggest success he’s been part of, and he’ll likely get plenty of awards season recognition for his performance. But he’s not slowing down after 2023 wraps up, as next year sees him step into the lead role of the massive action film, “The Fall Guy.”
And since we’re wrapping up 2023 soon enough and looking ahead at what’s to come, Vanity Fair is here to provide a first look at “The Fall Guy.” Directed by former stuntman himself, David Leitch, “The Fall Guy” tells the story of a veteran stuntman who is called on by a Hollywood producer to locate a missing A-lister before a film he is working on gets completely derailed. The film finds Gosling joined in the cast by Emily Blunt, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Hannah Waddingham, Winston Duke, and Stephanie Hsu. That’s a pretty loaded cast, to be certain, but everything revolves around the title character, played by Gosling.
“He’s done action, he’s done romance, he’s done comedy, but this movie allowed him to do all of it,” Leitch said. “The stunt crews that [Gosling] has worked with and that I’ve come up with, we’re not jaded. We’re not like, ‘Oh, we don’t get the credit…’ We love making movies. He just wanted to bring a stuntman like that to life, and he wanted to find a real motivation for this character in the love story.”
“The Fall Guy” is only loosely based on the popular TV series of the same name. The film is expected to arrive in theaters on March 1, 2024. You can see the first-look photos below:
