According to Deadline, Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried are going to star in Paul Feig’s Lionsgate thriller, “The Housemaid.” The film is based on the novel by Freida McFadden and tells the story of a young woman (Sweeney) who begins work for a wealthy married couple but finds they are hiding some dark secrets.
“I’m thrilled to have ‘The Housemaid’ join our upcoming slate,” said Adam Fogelson, chair Lionsgate Motion Picture Group. “A great filmmaker and a great cast with a great script from a great book is a terrific place to start. My prior work experiences with Paul and Amanda have been nothing short of spectacular, and Sydney is as talented and compelling as can be.”
Sweeney is probably best known for her work on the HBO series, “Euphoria.” More recently, she appeared in hit films, “Anyone But You” and “Immaculate.” Seyfried has been acting for a long time now, and recently appeared as Elizabeth Holmes in the Hulu series, “The Dropout,” as well as the series “The Crowded Room.”
It’s unclear when we might see “The Housemaid” begin filming. The report says that Feig is working on his much-anticipated sequel, “A Simple Favor 2.” That film is expected to release in the first half of 2025.
