The Round-Up With The ‘Dragon Tattoo’: David Fincher & The Cast On Charlie Rose, A New TV Spot & More

nullWith "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” opening a day early (the first public screenings are on Tuesday December 20th at 7pm), the press machine is in full gear, getting the word out on this (second) adaptation of the world-wide bestseller.

On this past week’s “Oscar Talk” podcast, Anne Thompson and Kris Tapley deemed "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" a non-factor in the Oscar race, which isn’t a comment on its quality (though Tapley did not enjoy the film), just on it being more of a genre exercise than the sort of film the Academy would go for. That being said, some are still holding out hope that Rooney Mara could score a Best Actress Oscar nomination, and if she doesn’t get one, it won’t be for lack of exposure, as Mara seems to be popping up everywhere.

In one of the bigger Charlie Rose roundtables in recent memory the actress joined director David Fincher, and co-stars Daniel Craig, Christopher Plummer, Robin Wright & Stellan Skarsgård for a 51-minute long discussion about the film.

Meanwhile, for behind the scenes obsessives, in the feature “How to Assemble a ‘Dragon,’” the New York Times have put together a slide show of a four-minute sequence from ‘Tattoo,’ in which Fincher and editors Kirk Baxter and Angus Wall explain how they structured this part of the movie, conveying a great deal of information in a short period of time. That being said, ‘Tattoo’ is 170-minutes long, a running time that will hopefully appease devotees of the original book.

And finally, there's also a new TV spot up on MTV (watch below), while Mara explains the extent to which she immersed herself in Lisbeth Salander, saying ""I was in that character for over a year. If you're going to do it, you have to do it," in an interview with Allure. And at long last, you can see for yourself if this movie lives up to the hype when it opens at 7pm tomorrow.
