Parents just don't understand, amirite? For anyone who has made fledgling inroads into a career being a musician in their youth, the clash with parents presented in the first trailer for David Chase's rock 'n' roll drama "Not Fade Away" will be more than familiar.
In a perfect bit of timing, the New York Film Festival press screening for the movie just let out, and as we furiously get our review together (stay tuned), this first look at the movie has landed online. The premise is pretty straight forward, with John Magaro, Jack Huston and Will Brill starring as three Italian American kids who are inspired by The Rolling Stones and start their own band. The period details look spot on, and the story beats you'd expect it to hit are all present. James Gandolofini does his growly best as the unimpressed father of one of the rock 'n' rollers, while Brad Garrett is compelling as the no nonense dude who gives the young guys some sound advice on how to make it big. Meanwhile, Bella Heathcote looks strong as one of the love interests.
Anyway, see for yourself below (oh yeah, the song in the spot is "Parachute Woman" by The Rolling Stones). "Not Fade Away" hits theaters on December 21st. Is it just us or did watching this also remind you of Kevin Arnold's The Electric Shoes?
