Did you know Slash from Guns ‘N’ Roses has his own horror movie production company? Us neither. Out of all the non-rock entrepreneurial activities of which Slash would participate, we would have put “movie producing” underneath “skydiving with supermodels” and “fried chicken.” But here we are — you’re at a computer screen, we’re typing it out, and Slash is hanging out with Oscar-nominee Thomas Haden Church, for “Nothing To Fear.”
Jonathan W.C. Mills is making his directorial debut, after having worked on the effects for Gore Verbinski‘s “Rango” and “Pirates of The Caribbean: Too Damn Long.” The plot concerns a conflict between a fractured family and an unhinged clergyman, with Haden getting to wear the collar. Slash’s Slasher Films begins lensing on the project this October, with the script’s location loosely based around the town of Stull, Kansas, which, if you believe the balderdash, is one of the gateways to HELL.
Haden Church is in a curious place in his career. He didn’t exactly flame out, but it’s not like he capitalized on his post-Oscar success from “Sideways.” The man has diversified, working in every genre, with movies both big and small. But this seems like only a slight right step away from participating in a WWE production. Then again, maybe he’s just really not above this sort of thing… [Deadline]
