'Thunderbolts*' Star Lewis Pullman Remains Secretive About Playing Sentry: "Bob Is Not His Only Name"

Over the weekend, you might have heard that Marvel Studios had a little Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con. And while most of the headline-grabbing news was about the Russo Brothers and Robert Downey, Jr., there were other films talked about, including “Thunderbolts*.” And one of the confirmations we got from that presentation was about Lewis Pullman possibly playing the antagonist of the film. Well, he was asked more about that after the presentation, and let’s just say, Pullman was less-than-open about his role in the film.

According to an interview with EW after Marvel Studios’ Hall H presentation, Lewis Pullman was asked about his role in “Thunderbolts*.” And much like the rest of his castmates, the actor has clearly been Marvel media trained. That said, he did give a hint about who he is playing in the film.

“All I’ll say is that everyone has their own nicknames and Bob is not his only name,” Pullman explained. “As Lewis is not my only name.”

For many fans of Marvel, just knowing the character’s name is Bob is pretty much confirmation that Pullman is, in fact, playing Sentry in the film. When Pullman was reported to be joining the film, that was the role the reports claimed he landed. However, there was no confirmation from Marvel until now.

For those who aren’t huge Marvel nerds, Sentry, aka Robert “Bob” Reynolds, is a Superman-analog but with a bit of spice. Imagine Superman except with some serious mental illness. Sentry has these incredible Superman-like powers but he also has a dark side that sometimes takes over his body called The Void. He’s just a ultra powerful hero with an equally powerful darkside. He’s unpredictable, to say the least.

So, is Pullman playing Sentry in the film?

“Bob is not all he goes by. That’s all I’m saying,” said Pullman.

Hopefully, we don’t have to wait too long before Pullman can talk about his character fully because his denials aren’t great.

“Thunderbolts*” is set to arrive in theaters on May 2, 2025.
