Got a Tip?

Tim Burton Wanted To Make A ‘House Of Wax’ Musical Starring Michael Jackson

nullWhile Tim Burton eventually scratched his musical itch with 2007's "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street," it appears at one time he had an even more ambitious plan in mind. A project that would bring together the biggest pop star in the world and one of the most famed horror movies of all time.

Speaking with Yahoo! Movies UK, the director revealed he was once pitched a pretty ambitious idea that unsurprisingly didn't go very far. "My favourite one was when I tried to convince the studio to make my idea of a musical version of 'House Of Wax' with Michael Jackson. It was many years ago but that's the one that springs to mind," he said, adding: "They did not go for that one at all."

Of course, Jackson had already married music and horror in his groundbreaking, John Landis-directed video for "Thriller," and he'd had big screen experience thanks to "The Wiz," but this would've been an entirely different ball of….uh, wax. Not to mention that starring in his own movie about a madman in a wax museum who uses real humans to make his statues would've had late night jokes writing themselves.

But, it's fascinating to add this one to the pile of could've-been projects. And it couldn't have been worse than the Paris Hilton-starring remake, right?
