Got a Tip?

‘Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning – Part 1’ Is Official Title For 7th Film

CinemaCon 2022 is underway in Las Vegas and Paramount‘s presentation included a big promotional push for Tom Cruise‘s massive “Mission: Impossible 7.” The studio unveiled a new, never-before-seen trailer for the film which has had an infamously difficult international production during the pandemic. This arduous shoot apparently suffered multiple COVID-19 outbreaks and writer/director Christopher McQuarrie was reportedly so ill, he had to be hospitalized.

During the CinemaCon presentation, the studio also finally gave the seventh installment an official title, “Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning – Part 1.”

Also, revealed during the tradeshow (via Deadline) is filming is now underway on “Mission: Impossible 8,” aka, “‘Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning – Part 2” as Paramount played a pre-recorded message from Cruise that was from atop a biplane and was a potential hint to the pic’s next big stunt.

Joining Cruise on the call sheet are Rebecca Ferguson, Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Henry Czerny, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, Angela Bassett, Cary Elwes, Indira Varma, Rob Delaney, and Charles Parnell.

After multiple delays, “Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning – Part 1” is expected in theaters on July 14, 2023. Due to the expense of various COVID-19 protocols and the myriad delays, the film’s budget reportedly ballooned to a hefty $290 million price tag—a rather huge uptick from “Mission: Impossible – Fallout” which cost the studio $180 million.

Interestingly, Cruise reportedly squashed the studio’s effort to develop Paramount+ shows based on the Tony Scott-directed racing action flick “Days of Thunder” and “Mission: Impossible.”
