Trailer For Frank Miller's 'The Spirit' Released, Riots At Comic-Con Are Imminent

Frank Miller’s newest directorial project “The Spirit” has released a full-length trailer, and it appears he forgot to tell anyone he was making the first green-screened soft-core porn. To be honest it is tough to get through this thing without laughing, especially when Samuel L. Jackson makes his first appearance and even comic-book fanatics who would defend Miller to the death will surely be disappointed when this they get a whiff of this thing.

Though the trailer makes the movie itself look a comedy, its saving grace could be its high concentration of attractive women appearing at every moment, including Scarlett Johansson, Eva Mendes and Paz Vega. It appears as though they are unable to do anything but seduce the main character. Was the entire pre-production spent thinking of sexy and cool things for the women to say to the Spirit, who is apparently some guy running around with a mask ripped straight from Joel Schumacher’s Batman series? Whatever they did, this could be a cautionary warning to the other studios about what happens when one digs too deep for a comic-book adaptation, and maybe even signal a slowing down of forced, overdone comic-like flicks. Because in the end, if you really want to feel like you’re reading a comic-book, go buy one.
