Got a Tip?

Trailer: Justice Documentary, ‘A Cross The Universe’

If you can’t bring the balls-tripping hipsters to the mountain, then bring the mountain to them. Thus, Justice, that other French electro-pop duo, have taken a short break from creating spine-shimmying grooves and those natty leather outfits to prepare a live CD and DVD for a November 24th release. Under the auspicious title “A Cross the Universe,” the film follows the group on the recent tour they undertook to support that record with “D.A.N.C.E.” and all those other songs on it. Judging from the trailer, there should be plenty of sweat, nudity, jumping, flashing strobe lights and pulsating beats to go around.

Though it’s hard to tell between the blasts of synth noise and the bright lights, the clip also seems to indicate that the movie will feature a freestyling hobo as well as some candid footage of the fellas roaming the United States and sampling all that our great country has to offer (guns, mostly). Hopefully, this project will combine the stranger-in-a-strange-land style of comedy with an awesome concert film, sort of a “Borat”-cum-“The Last Waltz.” However it comes out, though, one thing is for sure: these guys are certainly capable of setting the asses of a huge crowd on fire.

Whether these butt pyrotechnics transfer into your living room, however, remains to be seen. At the very least, though, at least now we can see Justice without having to rub up against a sea of grimy latter-day hippies looking for drugs. Oh, and don’t confuse this with last year’s Julie Taymor-helmed Beatles tribute. There can’t be many things more disappointing than expecting French electro and getting Jim Sturgess. – Seth Valentine
