Got a Tip?

Trailer & More Photos Of Spike Jonze’s Robot Short, ‘I’m Here’

Alright, we already showed you one image of Spike Jonze’s documentary short, “I’m Here” which is an odd-sounding robot love-story that we learned earlier this year was sponsored/funded by Absolut Vodka (hey someone’s gotta pay for these things) and stars up- and-coming British actor Andrew Garfield (“Boy A,” “The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus”) who he met through fellow director and good friend Mark Romanek — Garfield stars in Romanek’s upcoming thriller “Never Let Me Go.”

Now more has arrived; as in the trailer and several more images (via Collider). We also know that the short features L.A. indie rockers Moonrats as a fake band called The Lost Trees led by David Kramer. So then it’s no surprise that gorgeous song in the trailer, is by Aska Matsumiya of the group and was produced by Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. The short also reunites the director with his regular crew of collaborators, but not including cinematographer Lance Acord (instead its Adam Kimmel who also shot the aforementioned, “Never Let Me Go”.

Garfield plays one of the robots (you can tell by his voice) and it’s interesting to take on a role where you can’t express anything other than with your body language; it was probably a challenge for sure.

The first screening of the film at Sundance takes place Thursday, January 21, 8:30pm – Egyptian Theatre. More screenings are here. If you happen to catch it let us know. There’s no official synopsis yet, but it’s also not that short and runs 35 minutes long (most shorts, especially for short film festivals run about 15 minutes and generally no longer than 20).
