'Princess Cyd' Trailer: Add This Film To Your Must-See List This Fall

Every now and then a film sneaks up on you and catches your eye. “Princess Cyd” is one of those films that you might not have heard about yet, but you should probably have on your radar. In the new trailer for the film, it’s clear that a lot of heart went into this story about a young girl coming-of-age in a Chicago summer.

Jessie Pinnick plays Cyd, a teenage girl visiting her author Aunt in Chicago for the summer. While there, she meets a unique and intriguing barista named Katie. The two strike up a friendship, which leads to something a little more intimate. As you see in the trailer, this is clearly a coming-of-age film, with the obvious humor that comes from that trope, but there’s more to it than your standard teen romp. Viewers can see there’s more this film has to say about identity and love, and just how not black and white life can be. If the film is anything like the trailer, it looks charming and full of heart.

“Princess Cyd” is written and directed by Stephen Cone, best known for his last film “Henry Gamble’s Birthday Party,” which garnered a fair bit of attention when it was released in 2015. The film stars Pinnick, as well as veteran actor Rebecca Spence and newcomer Malic White, as Katie.

“Princess Cyd” has been making the film festival rounds since the summer, and will release in New York and Chicago on November 3rd, and Los Angeles on December 1st, before hitting DVD on December 5th. Don’t let the film fall off your radar among all the prestige films that will see release over the next few months. This is going to be a film you’re going to want to check out for sure.
