The pendulum seems to swing back-and-forth with "True Detective." For every dodgy episode, comes another with fresh and intriguing surprises. This week, things took an upward turn with "Other Lives," which offers a clever time jump following the aftermath of the Vinci Massacre at the end of the fourth episode.
Brad Brevet from Rope Of Silicon has jumped on the phone again to discuss the latest episode. While I may have liked "Other Lives" a bit more than my partner in crime, the narrative of this current season is a bit of a mess. With lots of character texture and a mystery at the core that’s increasingly not all that compelling, perhaps Nic Pizzolatto could’ve used more episodes to let everything breathe a bit, or trimmed it down for more impact. Either way, there are only three episodes left, and we’ll be riding with it all the way to the end.
