Blumhouse Productions has grown into a powerhouse company that can be both be vying for an Oscar, while at the same time make no frills plays for big mainstream success. The company behind “Get Out” has made a name for itself with low budget genre fills, that manage to find a big audience. In addition to Jordan Peele‘s hit, the studio also brought you “Split” and “Happy Death Day” last year. Now, they want to play “Truth Or Dare.”
Directed by Jeff Wadlow (“Kick-Ass 2“), and starring Lucy Hale, Tyler Posey, Violett Beane, Nolan Gerard Funk, Hayden Szeto and Sophia Taylor Ali, the premise is pretty simple — a deadly game of truth or dare leaves its victim followed by a….well, a kinda “It Follows“-ish spectre. Again, these aren’t the most brainy movies, but Blumhouse knows how to zero in on the audience for them, so don’t be surprised if this turn out to be another hit.
“Truth Or Dare” opens on April 27th.
