Got a Tip?

‘Up’ Director Pete Docter’s Pixar Mind Movie Now Reportedly Titled ‘The Inside Out’

nullFollowing the one-two punch of the critical disappointments of “Cars 2” and “Brave,” it’s fair to say that Pixar is off its game, so to speak. Nevertheless, while the next few years will yield two sequels — “Monsters University” and “Finding Nemo 2” — the studio has plenty of interesting projects being developed, including “Up” director Pete Docter’s “wildy ambitious” and secretive film that takes place in a young girl’s mind. Originally known as “The Untitled PIxar Movie That Takes You Inside The Mind,” Docter’s third feature now has a title.

Bleeding Cool is reporting that the legendary CG animation studio has all but officially chosen “The Inside Out” as the title. Though it hasn’t been cleared yet and no official confirmation is forthcoming, the site’s sources say “it’s the one Pixar want[s].”

About the only thing we know about the animated film — other than “Star Wars: Episode 7” writer Michael Arndt tackling the screenplay — is what Pixar head honcho (and Hawaiian shirt aficionado) John Lasseter told Charlie Rose last year: “Pete Docter, from ‘Monsters Inc.’ and ‘Up,’ is doing a new film that takes place inside of a girl’s mind and it is about her emotions as characters, and that is unlike anything you’ve ever seen.” So, "Inception" for kids or something?

“The Inside Out” is set for release on June 19, 2015 in what’s shaping up to be a big summer at the movies with “The Avengers 2,” “Justice League,” “Star Wars: Episode 7” and a possible bow for “Avatar 2” all slated.
