‘Us Kids’ Trailer: New Doc Profiles A Resilient Youth Movement Telling America To Wake Up & Act

“We call B.S.” This was the message from Stoneman Douglas High School shooting survivor Emma Gonzalez and many of her peers. Tragically, not a whole lot changed in the two years since it was spoken. But hope can never be abandoned. It’s an ideal that propelled a movement like March For Our Lives forward. Gonzalez and additional youth—exercising wisdom and responsibility beyond their years—advocate this day that it’s high time the U.S. government put the lives of its citizens first. “Us Kids” follows the work put in by these young patriots.

Directing the project is Kim A. Snyder. She is best known for helming the 2016 documentary “Newtown,” a Peabody winner and nominee for the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival. Snyder also shares producing credit with Maria Cuomo Cole and Lori Cheatle.

Sparked by the plague of gun violence ravaging their schools, Us Kids chronicles the March For Our Lives movement from the point of view of Emma Gonzalez, David Hogg, Samantha Fuentes, and the expansive coalition of teenage activists involved over the course of several years as they pull off the largest youth protest in American history and set out across the country to build an inclusive and unprecedented youth movement that addresses racial justice, a growing public health crisis, and shocks a political system into change.
