‘V/H/S/85’ Trailer: Scott Derrickson, David Bruckner & More Go Back To The ’80s For The Latest Horror Anthology

Anthology films in horror are nothing new. Decades ago, there were examples like “Tales From the Crypt,” “Trilogy of Terror,” and of course, “Creepshow.” However, in recent years, the most recognizable horror anthology franchise is none other than “V/H/S.” And just in time for Halloween, Shudder has a new one coming, titled “V/H/S/85.”

As seen in the trailer for “V/H/S/85,” the film continues the found-footage gimmick of previous films but this time places the time period in the mid-‘80s. So, instead of the super-clean found-footage films we’ve been seeing in recent years, this is the era of grainy camcorders, which somehow just adds to the terror. And though the trailer doesn’t reveal any of the twists, it’s clear the filmmakers involved are not shying away from the gore and scares for the latest film in the “V/H/S” franchise.

This time, for  “V/H/S/85,” Shudder has lined up directors such as David Bruckner, Scott Derrickson, Gigi Saul Guerrero, Natasha Kermani, and Mike Nelson. And per usual, it’s a great mix of newer talent with established horror names. Obviously, many people are going to be most excited to see Scott Derrickson among the names, as he is the man behind Marvel Studios‘ “Doctor Strange” and horror films like “The Black Phone” and “Sinister.”

“V/H/S/85” is set to hit Shudder on October 6. You can watch the new trailer below.

Here’s the synopsis:

An ominous mixtape blends never before seen snuff footage with nightmarish newscasts and disturbing home video to create a surreal, analog mashup of the forgotten 80s.
