'Wake Up Dead Man': Josh O'Connor & Cailee Spaeny Join The Cast Of The Next 'Knives Out' Film

Each time a new ‘Knives Out’ film is announced, we typically find ourselves with a flood of news about who is joining the always flashy cast. Well, last week, we heard that Rian Johnson’s new installment in the franchise is called “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery,” and it appears we have the first two names joining Daniel Craig in the all-star cast.

According to Deadline, Josh O’Connor and Cailee Spaeny are joining Daniel Craig in the cast of “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.” As is typically the case with this franchise, plot details are unknown at this time, but ‘Wake Up Dead Man’ serves as the third film in the ‘Knives Out’ film series, which follows the adventures of Craig’s Benoit Blanc. We can also assume there is a murder that has to be solved.

O’Connor is probably best known for his role in “The Crown.” More recently, he appeared in films such as “La Chimera” and the tennis drama, “Challengers.” Spaeny is known for her film work in movies such as “Bad Times at the El Royale,” “Priscilla,” and the just-released “Civil War.” Her next movie is “Alien: Romulus.”

Johnson is set to write and direct ‘Wake Up Dead Man,’ as expected. After the first ‘Knives Out’ film was released, he and his production company signed a massive deal with Netflix to produce two new films in the franchise. Back in 2022, “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” was released to acclaim both from critics and viewers. The film was a massive success for the streamer, so it’s not a shock Johnson would hurry and write the next film.

Production is expected to begin next month, which would lead us to believe a 2025 release date is eyed.
