Got a Tip?

‘Warrior’ Star Frank Grillo Joins The Cast Of Kathryn Bigelow’s Bin Laden Movie

nullAt this point, we're beginning to suspect that in order to cast her still-untitled film about the mission to kill Osama Bin Laden, Kathryn Bigelow incepted us, found out all our favorite actors and actresses, and put them in her movie. First, she cast Australian actor Jason Clarke from "Brotherhood," and "Parks & Recreation" scene stealer Chris Pratt. Then came rising star Joel Edgerton, of "Warrior" not-quite-fame, along with "Carlos" star Edgar Ramirez, 'Tinker Tailor' stand out Mark Strong, and The Playlist's Woman of the Year 2011, Jessica Chastain. And after that? The always-wonderful Jennifer Ehle, and Coach Taylor himself, "Friday Night Lights" and "Super 8" star Kyle Chandler, along with Harold Perrineau Jr, Nash Edgerton and Fares Fares.

But despite filming having been underway for months, it seems that Bigelow isn't quite done hitting our sweet spot, as Variety reports that Frank Grillo, who co-starred with Edgerton in "Warrior," and was one of our ten picks for Actors On The Rise a month or two back, has joined the cast. The actor first turned our heads in Gavin O'Connor's MMA movie, and subsequently stole the show in Joe Carnahan's "The Grey," and has several parts in the can already, including "Gangster Squad," "End Of Watch," "Lay The Favorite," "Disconnect" and the lead in thriller "Intersection."

Right now, there's no word on what part Grillo might be playing, but then, details have been kept top-secret on the project on all fronts, other than it's penned by Bigelow's "Hurt Locker" collaborator Mark Boal, and that it might be (but certainly isn't officially) called "Zero Dark Thirty." We assume Grillo's not playing Bin Laden, anyway. Bigelow presumably has a little bit left to shoot, but otherwise, things seem to be moving ahead nicely on the project: indeed, only today, according to Deadline, Universal picked up the international rights for the project, and will distribute it around the world. In the U.S, it's in the hands of Sony, who'll be releasing it on December 19th, 2012.
