As we await Disney to serve out the next morsel of information about “Star Wars: Episode 7,” now is a good time to catch up on the series thus far in preparation for whatever J.J. Abrams and co. have in store. And today are two ways you can take a look back at the franchise.
First up, a 15-minute featurette has emerged detailing the birth and history of the lightsaber. Featuring both George Lucas and Mark Hamill, the mini-documentary goes into great detail about the origins of the weapon, its meaning in the series, and the technical aspects of how they worked with various visual effects to make it appear on screen. It’s detailed stuff if that’s your kind of thing. Meanwhile, if you want a reminder of the story that was laid in the prequels, without having to endure them, Reddit has pointed folks in the direction of epic retrospective created by Steven Thomas that recaps the three movies in ten minutes.
