Yes, “Neighbors” is foremost a comedy about two man-children who face off against each other and get into man-children-esque hijinks. But there is a thematic kernel underneath it all too. We know, we don’t want to take away from the red band zaniness of the movie either, but hear us out.
In a new featurette for the upcoming film, Seth Rogen reveals the central couple in the movie, played by himself and Rose Byrne, are the first of their group of friends to grow up and start a family. As such, they are worried about hanging on to their cool, even when facing the responsibilities of adulthood. That gets put to the test when Zac Efron and his frat boy buddies move in next door, and don’t take too kindly to being told not to party. The result? Well, you can see in the couple of clips below that things don’t go well from the start.
“Neighbors” arrives on May 9th and you can read our review right here.
