Update: Character trailers for Olivia Munn's economist Sloan, and Emily Mortimer's executive producer Mackenzie have also been added. And yep, still looks pretty solid.
With last night’s season finale of “Game Of Thrones,” HBO is sending their marketing department into overdrive in advance of, what they hope will be, their next flagship show, Aaron Sorkin’s “The Newsroom.”
A new character spot has been released that focuses on Jeff Daniels’s beleaguered ACN news anchor, Will McAvoy, who faces a major change when his co-anchor bails for another program and takes most of the staff with him. With the pressure on him to carry the show and deliver ratings, while trying to get along with the staff, sparks fly.
Daniels seems more than game to deliver Sorkin’s trademarked snappy dialogue (“I’m affable!”) and he’s surrounded by a deep bench of quality actors, including Emily Mortimer, Sam Waterson, Jane Fonda, Dev Patel, Alison Pill and more. Sorkin’s grand return to television, “The Newsroom,” premieres on June 24th. And of course, we can't wait. Watch the spot below along with another new teaser trailer.
