Well, watch this while you can because it will probably be yanked off the Internet in short order. But for the past few weeks, some footage of Terry Gilliam‘s “The Zero Theorem” — including a rather spoiler heavy reel featuring 12 minutes of material — have been kicking around some parts of the interwebs, but over the weekend they made their way to some forums and YouTube, and thus here we are.
So below, you’ll see a 3-minute teaser trailer of sorts for “The Zero Theorem,” which gives a good measure of flavor without giving up major story elements. To recap, Christoph Waltz stars as an eccentric and reclusive computer genius, plagued with existential angst, who is working on a mysterious project aimed at discovering the purpose of existence — or the lack thereof — once and for all. But his task is constantly diverted and interrupted thanks to the Management, in what looks like a “Brazil“-esque tale of bureaucracy, with Gilliam’s penchant for playing with reality in full force.
More importantly, it does look like something of a return to form for the filmmaker, in what looks like his best effort in a while. Maybe we’ll see this in Venice? Melanie Thierry, Matt Damon, Tilda Swinton and more co-star/cameo. Watch below.
