Watch: Anna Kendrick Sings 'No Diggity' In Extended Clip From Musical Comedy 'Pitch Perfect'

null“OH SNAP, no she didn’t!,” is what we’d imagine the filmmakers behind the Anna Kendrick-starring “Pitch Perfect” want us to say throughout the majority of the running time for this film, which goes where few films have gone before in an effort to take a “Bring it On”-style comedic riff on a capella groups in college. When Barden University freshman Beca is discovered to have some impressive singing skills by a member of the university’s a cappella squad The Bellas – the school’s all-girl singing group – it really heats up the campus competition between The Bellas and their male rivals.

A clip has hit the web showcasing a scene that’s pretty much been played out in the film’s trailer, with the respective groups having a “Riff-Off” in an empty pool with the topic of “Songs about Sex” — only here we get to see more of the singing talent that’s on display in the film. Admittedly, this looks infinitely more compelling than an episode of Fox’s “Glee,” and the impressive ensemble that includes Kendrick, Elizabeth Banks, Brittany Snow, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Rebel Wilson, and John Michael Higgins, suggests that this could be a little more than your typical movie aimed at tween girls. The greatest pleasure from watching the clip comes as Kendrick (who started her career on Broadway) breaks into a rousing rendition of “No Diggity,” which would probably leave Blackstreet, Dr. Dre and Queen Pen feeling proud.

“Pitch Perfect,” which is based on the nonfiction novel by GQ editor Mickey Rapkin, will hit theaters stateside October 5, and we imagine if it can be on par with the entertainment value of something like the original “Bring it On,” we won’t feel so bad about seeing it for the talented and entirely adorable Kendrick. There, we said it. [The Wrap]
