Everything we've seen so far of Brandon Cronenberg's "Antiviral" has promised a leaf out of his father's book and, based on early positive word from the Croisette, it looks like Cronenberg Jr. has definitely delivered. We now have a the first clip from the picture, which sees the young helmer turn up the creep levels a few notches with his lead Caleb Landry Jones, who played Banshee in Matthew Vaughn's "X-Men: First Class."
The slow-motion clip features Jones walking through a hallway full of flowers before ending up at the room featured in some early images where co-star Sarah Gadon lies motionless. Did we mention it was creepy? Our Cannes review excitingly described the flick as having a "deliciously dark streak and an undeniably unique narrative that goes to some fascinating, twisted places. It's exactly the oddball and crooked tale you'd want and expect from a Cronenberg with all the gratuitous blood, pus, bone and multiple closeups of needles piercing skin you could ask for."
We'd expect the film to follow its Croisette venture with an appearance at TIFF, and hopefully somewhere between the two, the pic can manage to find distributor. Surely someone would love to get into/remain in his father's good book? [Flix.gr]
