Watch: Celebrate 20 Years With The Honest Trailer For 'Forrest Gump'

Forrest GumpWhile Tim Burton‘s "Batman" is getting the lion’s share of the anniversary attention this week, you might have forgotten that another seminal film also opened on June 23rd, 20 years ago—"Forrest Gump." And while Paramount will wait until September 5th to celebrate, with a re-release of the film on IMAX (for no good reason), we’ve got another way you can take a trip down memory lane.

Screen Junkies have dropped their Honest Trailer for the Tom Hanks-starring, Robert Zemeckis-directed film. And this is a hard movie to beat up on, because goddamit, it’s sweet-natured and yes, hokey for sure, but don’t deny that when it comes up on cable you wind up watching the thing to the end every time. Though we will say, we are in total agreement that the premature ejaculation scene was something the younger folks probably didn’t understand at the time (and still feels weirdly out of place in the film).

Give it a spin below and for more check out the opening credits of "Forrest Gump" in the style of Wes Anderson plus a 30-minute documentary on the movie.
